Yard Reviews

Rated 5/5 based on 1 reviews

Review by Alison Wilson – Dec, 2024
This yard has been my home for the last 20 years and I cannot praise Melanie and her team highly enough for their skill, hard work and complete dedication to the horses in their care. Melanie is an expert trainer and behavioural consultant who practices what she preaches – the horses’ welfare always comes first. Horses live in small herds with great care given to introductions and choosing fieldmates. All horses enjoy a secure routine and are never left to stress on their own if their friends come in for work. Turnout every day unless the weather is truly awful, and 24/7 over the late spring, summer and early autumn. Melanie has a close relationship of equals with her vets, farrier and dentist, all of whom follow her rules regarding care, patience and kindness to each horse. She provides expert guidance on tack, feeding and healthcare, and of course is always on hand to address behavioural issues such as agression, and fear and lack of confidence (in owners as well as their horses!). As a professional rider who has competed in pretty much every discipline, and a qualified instructor, she provides as much support with riding as you want, and encourages a supportive and very friendly atmosphere – we all want each other to succeed, whatever we’re doing. The yard is small, and not the prettiest in aesthetic terms, but the things that really matter are all here.
