A small, friendly yard, remote and peaceful. Stables, turnout, 20 x 40 grass manege, horse-walker and miles of off-road hacking in the beautiful Piddle Valley and surrounding areas. We are situated between a bridleway and a byway so you can go straight from the yard, no roads. Access is via a long track with a hard surface but bumpy; we are very much off-road.
We don’t do DIY but offer 3 different packages for assisted livery or full livery and provide a list of charges so owners can add additional help as and when needed. We make most of our haylage, also hay if weather permits, and this is included in all packages. Shavings are kept on the yard and charged at cost; other bedding types can be supplied. Muston Down Farm is local to several equestrian centres where regular events are held, in close proximity to four hunts, and there are plenty of local instructors.
The yard is peaceful, with very relaxed horses enjoying plenty of turnout on old, well-managed meadow grass. We use electric tape to strip graze. By owner choice, horses are separated but next to each other and grazing is rotated as much as possible according to the needs of each horse. Shared grazing is permitted according to owner requirements. Some horses need as much grass as they want and others need to be restricted, but all have everyday turnout.
We have young and old horses, ridden, not ridden, and retired. If you want your horse to be somewhere quiet, enjoy hacking, and have peaceful time with your horse, get in touch to arrange a visit.
