After the most difficult sixteen months of health issues, I had to accept my beautiful boy, Ringo, would never be rideable again. So complex had his needs become, I feared euthanasia was his only option, which broke my heart. As if from Heaven, I found The Paddocks, and was reassured by the lovely ladies there, Ringo's needs could be accommodated on a track system. It is safe to say this place has saved his life! He settled really well, & has never looked back! He is so spoiled, & had the best Christmas stocking!! Knowing that he is so loved and well cared, for has made losing him to early retirement that much more bearable. When I visit him, I wish like I could stay too! I only wish I lived nearer, as I still miss him so much. But he is safe, happy and cared for beautifully, and for that I will be forever grateful.

You cannot put a price on the care these guys provide. I cannot recommend them enough. My mare was deemed unrideable and after many amazing years it was important to choose the right place for her to live out her retirement. She is over an hour away from where I live but there is never day I worry about her. Fran and the team and friendly, knowledgeable and treat my girl like their own. We visit regularly which is always a pleasant experience and in-between visits I’m sent reports in regards to her health, weight and wellbeing along with weekly pictures of her being her cheeky self. The absolute BEST decision Iv ever made. I will be forever grateful for this place and the team and cannot thank them enough!

It’s never an easy decision when your pride and joy can no longer be ridden, but the silver lining of our difficult situation was Fran and her team at Helmsley. Their love and care for our beloved horse not only put any worries at ease but brings us much joy. Grazing is fantastic, the stables are large, the care is exceptional; you couldn’t ask for a better place to retire your horse. No ask is too much for a diligent team who is passionate about their work. Situated in such a beautiful area with the most wonderful people who will love your horse as their own, retirement here is a no-brainer.

My horse is 29 years old and I've owned & looked after her at home for the last 25 years. I dreaded putting her on livery. I needn't have worried. She absolutely loves it. She is spoilt rotten, has lots of new friends (horse & human) The yard is peaceful but still lots to see & keep her stimulated. I can visit as often as I like and am always made welcome.I really can't thank Helmsley retirement enough. Highly recommended.

I cannot rate this team in a higher regard. The care they provide for Mia is more than what I could have wished for her. I receive regular updates, photos and even her Christmas was just as festive as ours! She’s looked after like on of their own and she’s been fully submerged into her adopted family!

Thank goodness I was lucky enough to find Hemsley Equine Retirement Yard. Not only do they provide a knowledgeable, spacious, peaceful and comfortable home for Alice but they go above and beyond. My horse is not the easiest to handle yet the time and patience they have put into building a bond with her has resulted in her being so happy and contented all my friends and family have commented on it each time they visit with me. Just a few examples of their care – they put a lot of thought into choosing her field companions and deciding which winter overnight stable would suit her best. They ensure no bullying and all have access to hay in the field when needed. Alice has suffered intermittently from sunshine pastern dermatitis since before I got her so they treat it in line with vet advice and apply medication every day until it subsides. Rugs/fly masks are put on/taken off every day they are needed. They see to all vet, dentist, farrier, nutritionist, etc visits. I have complete peace of mind, only visiting her once a week, sometimes not even that. Needless to say Alice herself couldn't be happier.
