A small, friendly yard, remote and peaceful, situated between a byway and bridleway so you can ride straight from the yard and stay off-road if you wish. Access to the yard is via a hard but bumpy track: we are very much off-road!
Stables, turnout
20 x 40 grass manege
Horse-walker
Miles of off-road hacking in the beautiful Piddle Valley and surrounding areas
We offer 3 different packages for assisted livery, or full livery – but no DIY. Extra help available as required. We make most of our haylage, also hay if weather permits and this is included in all packages. Shavings are kept on the yard and charged at cost.
Muston Down Farm is local to several equestrian centres where regular events are held and there are several instructors in the area.
The yard is peaceful, with very relaxed horses enjoying plenty of turnout on old, well-managed meadow grass. We use electric tape to strip graze, horses are separated but next to each other and grazing is rotated as much as possible according to the needs of each horse. Shared grazing is permitted according to owner requirements.
We maintain a system of in at night and out during the day as this works well with working owners and the routine keeps the horses settled.
Geldings only.
We can accommodate horses for anyone wishing to holiday in the area. Local accommodation can be found, or we have space for lorry parking.
We are approximately 4 miles from Dorchester.
