Clandon Park Livery is based on the 1000 acre privately owned Clandon Park Estate near Guildford in Surrey. It has offered stabled livery and grass keep for horses since 1641 when the current Earl of Onslow’s ancestors first purchased the Park.
UNDER NEW MANAGER – Clandon Park Livery is thrilled to welcome their new Manager Tracey Shakespeare to the team. Tracey is a 4* event rider & coach with a passion to help others to achieve the best with their horse at whatever level they are riding.
We offer Full 7 Day with individual or shared paddocks or Grass livery for mares or geldings in same sex or mixed herds in parkland fields. The herd’s fields are rotated at least 4 times a year and we have plenty of grass. All paddocks and herds have troughs (all bar one with automatic water). New fields are being made available 2023/24. We also have a new hot wash box, tea room and the tack rooms have or are in the process of being fully refurbished. We are installing new solar powered security cameras.
We offer livery to responsible experienced adult owners of mares or geldings and we can arrange grazing in either mixed or same sex herds or shared or individual paddocks depending on your livery type. We try to accommodate your needs and those of your horse by offering flexible options within a structured and caring environment. We offer well-managed stables within a farm environment where there is no shortage of excellent grass for grazing horses, our rare breed sheep, making our own hay and for exclusive hacking along rides across our home Clandon Park.
Our liveries are permitted exclusive access to enjoy riding over our meadows, fields, along our many tracks, and down our recently restored ancient rides because they enjoy automatic membership to our riding club. A routine hack from either of our two yards would allow you to enjoy stunning scenery, take you past some of our beautifully managed fishing lakes, through one of our many sustainably managed forests and along ancient tree-lined avenues and tracks, much the same as you would have enjoyed in the 17th Century, and without ever having to ride on a public highway.
All our staff are experienced minimum Animal Care/Welfare Level 3 (or equivalent) and up to Lady Onslow BHSII (Teach Cert) BHSI (SM) from a broad range of backgrounds including nursing, livestock management, stable management, showing, dressage, eventing, showjumping or stud management. We have a dedicated full time grassland manager on the Park, an Estate Manager, a Training Director and four livery staff (plus career and veterinary placement students).
While we do have our own homebred horses or retired/young horses on site, and the yards are private, we do offer up to 14 stables for external livery clients and up to 400 acres of parkland fields for our rare breed sheep and between 30 to 40 grass liveries (in 4 separate herds). Within the Park we have approximately 1000 acres in one holding, however the Estate extends beyond the boundaries towards Newlands Corner and the Downs for further bridleway rides.
We offer a bespoke service, are happy to share our private facilities and Parkland for hacking and we are unlike many livery yards in that we offer up to 1 month a year free stable for grass liveries when under veterinary treatment and advice (terms & conditions apply). As such, there is a bit of a waiting list. If however you would like to visit and meet us with a view of being added to that list you are always welcome. Viewing is by appointment with our Clandon Park Livery Manager Tracey Shakespeare or our Director of Training Lady Onslow. Terms & Conditions apply.
