For any horse lover, visiting a stable yard is one of the most thrilling things that they will ever experience. This is particularly true for anyone with the horseracing bug, as seeing the inner workings of these professional establishments is both eye-opening and thrilling.
Seeing these beautiful equine specimens on the track is a privilege in itself, but getting to see them putting in the hard work at home, and seeing the love and care that goes into their training is special.
The easiest and best way of getting to see behind the scenes at a racing yard is by getting involved in racehorse ownership. Whether you wish to be a sole owner or be part of the ever-popular racing syndicates, all owners are invited to see their horses being put through their paces on the gallops.
Although horseracing was known for being a closed book in the past, modern trainers know the importance of allowing the public to see exactly what happens in their training yards. From grooming, exercising on the gallops, or practicing their jumping, trainers are happy to let the horses’ owners see exactly what goes into the training of these wonderful animals.

The people behind the scenes of the horseracing world are some of the most hard-working and kind people you could ever hope to meet. The stable lads and lasses work extremely hard every day to get the horses in shape, and the care and compassion they give to each horse is heartwarming.
They are also very friendly people and they take pride in letting owners know exactly how their horses are behaving and performing. They will answer any questions you may have and will show you everything you may want to see.

Of course, it is not only the stablehands that you will meet at the yards. Even the most famous trainers, such as Champion Trainer, Paul Nicholls, or the always friendly Nicky Henderson, are very welcoming, open, and honest with every owner that enters their yard.
You may also be lucky enough to meet and talk to some of the industry’s top jockeys on your visit. The big stables will have jockeys riding out every day, whilst the smaller stables will have jockeys in to ride on a few occasions during the week.
Jockeys such as Harry Skelton, Sam Twiston-Davies, or Harry Cobden could be available to have a quick chat about the horses they are riding.
Of course, it is the famous equine talent that most people will be keen to meet. A visit to Nicky Henderson’s Seven Barrows stables could see you getting up close and personal with the brilliant Shishkin or the seemingly unstoppable Constitution Hill.
Seeing these types of horses in the flesh while they exercise or even getting to give them a rub as they relax in their stables is the stuff of dreams for racing fans. Becoming an owner is the best way of making that dream become a reality.
